Annoyed looking old woman knitting.

What I did over my holiday break

January 21, 20261 min read

I never had to write one of those “what I did over my summer break” essays, but from what I gather, a lot of other people were forced to for school. Thank goodness I never had to write those essays because, most years, it would have been, “I went to the library twice a week, borrowed books, and read all summer. The End.”

My life hasn’t gotten any more exciting, but I try to have my kind of fun over holiday and vacation breaks. This December, I decided to learn Fair Isle knitting. And I was pleased to note that I already have a good understanding of it.

I got this lesson and pattern for a Fair Isle headband from The Yarnist.

Part-way through above and here's the finished product, which needs some blocking to make the edges less squiggly.

I’m not sure I’ll do more multi-color knitting in the future just because I like mono-color stuff, but it’s good to know I can do it if I had to.

So, what did you do on your break?
