Sur­round­ed by state forests, Tere­sa lives with her fam­i­ly on 27-acres in rur­al Indi­ana where they grow and for­age much of their own food. She loves bird­ing, bug-spot­ting, cre­at­ing art, keep­ing up with sci­ence, mak­ing mar­malade and jel­lies, knit­ting, bak­ing, and try­ing to impress the chick­ens with her bilin­gual­ism.
